The results show that the material consumptions of room air conditioners in China in 2005 were respectively 2.31 million tons of steel, 0.55 million tons of copper, 0.27 million tons of aluminum, 0.45 million tons of plastic, and the copper consumption accounted for 85% of the total national output of copper then. The material saving is as important as energy saving for air conditioning.
